Fairy Garden Arrives in Ballymote Park
There was magic in the air last Friday as students from Corran College unveiled their fabulous fairy garden at Ballymote town park. After many weeks in the making it is hoped the new fairy garden will bring joy to the many children that will visit it. Principal of Corran College Mr Martin Flynn said, “we are so proud of this group of students. In a time of uncertainty and pessimism due to Covid restrictions, each student here has used their creativity to create a project that has given a marvellous lift to the community. This is a project that can progress annually and is a wonderful addition to this beautiful park. It was the groups intention to create a project that would give something back to the community, and I think they have most definitely done this. I would like to pay tribute to their teachers Mr Kilfeather and Mr Coggins for steering the project to completion.”
The nominated charity chosen for this project by Corran College is the Ms Northwest Therapy Centre, Sligo.

The children from Spraoi Community Childcare Centre and Claire Barden from the Learn Early Montessori Academy, attended the opening of the garden and there was a great atmosphere of excitement and fun as the children discovered the many colourful fairy houses and doors dotted around the park trees. The students from Corran College enthusiastically showed the children around with great pride, which added hugely to the occasion. Ms Claire Reilly from Ballymote Community Library kindly contributed to the event on the day by reading Fairy stories for the boys and girls.
Marguerite Egan from Ballymote Tidy Towns and Tourism Limited thanked Corran College, the students and their teachers and noted that November 13th was World Kindness Day and it was a fitting day to reveal the fairy garden. She added, “We acknowledge the talent, work ethic, creativity and kindness of both the students and their teachers from Corran College for undertaking this project which will bring joy to many.”
